Athene The Greek Gods

Athene, alao known as Athena was the goddess of war and wisedom. She was born in a very strange way. Her father Zeus met a Titannian and fell in love with her. But there was a prophecy that if this woman would give birth to a boy child, he would defeat Zeus and become the new king. So Zeus swollowed the woman. After a while, Zeus had a terrible headache. Hephaestus wanted to help so he cutted Zeus's skull in half and out of it came out Athena. i really liked this story because the way that Athene was born was really weird and I never knew that she was born that way.

Hera

Hera is the goddess of mariage, love and women. She is the Queen of Heaven and the sister and wife of Zeus. Even though she is the wife of Zues, they don't get along really well and she is always complaining and doing mean things. The Greek Gods

Zeus

This chapter talks about Zeus and how the was he born. His father Cronos was scared that his children will kill him and take his place on the trone so he swolowed everysingle one of them except for Zeus. But Rhea, the wife of Cronos hid Zues in a mountain and when ashe gave a rock to Cronos instead of giving him the actual baby. When Zeus grew up, he made this special drink with his mother to make Cronos vomit his brothers and sisters. His siblings automaticly wanted Zeus to become their leader. After that, the Olympian gods fought with the Titans and their leader Cronos and the Olympian Gods won. Zeus then married Hera. This chapter was really interesting because it talked about how Zeus was born in a very strange way.

BOY

Writing Home

This chapter talks about how Dahl wrote to his Mum every single week until his mother died, 32 years later. In his boarding school, each boy had to write to their parents at least once a week and thats what Dahl did. The headmaster was checking the letters not for spelling mistakes but for what the students wrote. The students werent brave enough to write that they hated one master at the school for example because they were way too scared of the scary large headmaster.

I think that it was right that the school made them write a letter a least once a week so that they could have some contact with their parents. But it did not have so much sence to write to the parents what the headmaster wanted them to write so I dont think it was nice of him to do that.

BOY

Going to Norway and The Magic Island

Roald Dahl talks about what he did in his summer hollydays. He always went to Norway for his vacation. His mother had to pack six suitcases!!! First, they took the train to London, then another one for a town, then they continued by a big boat to Oslo. They stayed for a night at their grandparent's house. Their grandparents were called Bestemama and Bestepapa. The next day, Raold Dahl and his family took a smaller boat to a tiny island to an old hotel owned by some old people. The hotel was so old that they didn't even have a normal toilet! If you needed to use the toiet, you had to go out of the house and the there, you sat on a hole. Disgusting!!!  When the kids were older, Roald Dahl's mom bought a very old motorboat. That way, they were able to sail to far islands. That was really fun in Roald Dahl's oppinion, but one of his sisters dind't appreciate it so much!

BOY

                     Mrs Pratchett's Revenge

Mrs Pratchett came to the Headmaster and made him punish Dahl and his friends for the "great" mouse plot. The punishment was that each of the children were hit really hard on their bottoms five times and if one of them jumped up, then they would get a bonus hit. When Dahl came home and his mother saw and heard what happened to him., she wasn't going to accept this so she went to talk to the Headmaster. Dahl's mother decided to send Dahl to a boarding school.

I think that this kind of punishment is really bad and I felt so sad for Dahl and his friends. I don't think that people should use violence for punishments and I'm happy that now there is a rule that in most countries your not allowed to give those kind of punishments anymore.

In my experience, I didn't really have any punishments but my friends had some. They had punishments like writing down a hundred times one sentence,  standing in the corner, siting on the bench at recess, extra homework or just being hit with a ruler on the fingers but that wasn't really painful and it was just a kind of a warning. I think that the punishments missing recess or standing in the corner, writing sentences or extra homework are better punishments than hitting and using violence.

Roald Dahl used a lot of adjectives, similes and synonyms to make his writing more interesting. He also used dialogs and that made his writing nice to read.
