BOY

                     Mrs Pratchett's Revenge

Mrs Pratchett came to the Headmaster and made him punish Dahl and his friends for the "great" mouse plot. The punishment was that each of the children were hit really hard on their bottoms five times and if one of them jumped up, then they would get a bonus hit. When Dahl came home and his mother saw and heard what happened to him., she wasn't going to accept this so she went to talk to the Headmaster. Dahl's mother decided to send Dahl to a boarding school.

I think that this kind of punishment is really bad and I felt so sad for Dahl and his friends. I don't think that people should use violence for punishments and I'm happy that now there is a rule that in most countries your not allowed to give those kind of punishments anymore.

In my experience, I didn't really have any punishments but my friends had some. They had punishments like writing down a hundred times one sentence,  standing in the corner, siting on the bench at recess, extra homework or just being hit with a ruler on the fingers but that wasn't really painful and it was just a kind of a warning. I think that the punishments missing recess or standing in the corner, writing sentences or extra homework are better punishments than hitting and using violence.

Roald Dahl used a lot of adjectives, similes and synonyms to make his writing more interesting. He also used dialogs and that made his writing nice to read.

BOY

                                                Mr Coombes

This chapter was about when Mrs Peatchett came to Roald's school with complains that one tof the boys from the school putted the mouse in the gobstoper jar. She new that it was Roald Dahl and his friends so she said it to theHeadmaster and of curse he beleived her. I didn't like that chapter so much because it wasn't really funny like the last chapter. The best part in the chapter is I think when the boys actually discover that Mrs Pratchett was still alive.

BOY

                           The Mouse Plot

In this chapter, Roald Dahl found a dead mouse with his friends and he had a great idea to put this mouse in the gobstopper jar so that Mrs Pratchett would take the mouse out instead of the candy. Their plan was to go to the shop and ask for a candy so that Mrs Pratchett would turn around and Roald Dahl would put the mouse in the gobstopper jar. They succeeded!

I think that his idea really cool and fun and it will give a lesson to Mrs Pratchett. I think that the funniest part was in the sentence when they felt like desperadoes.

BOY

                   Kindergarden 1922-1923
This chapter was sad because Roaldahl was talking about his sister's and father's death. Now his mother had to take care of five children and at the same time she was pregnant. So in total she had to take care of six children. She had to move to England because her husband's wish was that all of his children would go to English schools. Roaldahl was also talking about how he was racing wis his eldest sister when they were going to school.

I felt really sad about him and his mother because of all of the things that happened. His mother had to have a lot of work with six children all by herself.

The Phone Goes Dead

Linda James dies in Hyde Park when a flash of lighting hit her and she throws her phone and it hit the ground. We will never find out any thing else about her, but the phone, that’s a different story. An old man was walking and saw the phone and he changed the Sim-card to a new one. He sold the phone to a man that was called Mark Adams. Mark bought the phone for his son, David who was sixteen. One day, the phone rings. It was an old man that was speaking and David answered. He did not know that man; all he knew about him was his name, which was Eric Saunders. He decided to ask her mother if she ever herd of someone named like that. She said that that man once used to be her friend’s husband, but he died six weeks ago because of lung cancer.

The mane character was a bit foolish because he was at first scared to tell his mom about that man that phoned him, but I think that he made the right chose to tell her about it. I liked that the story changed really quickly like in the beginning and I like those kind of stories because they don’t talk all the time about that same thing so they don’t get boring. For example, the story was first talking about a woman that was called Linda James and it suddenly changed to a whole different story talking about a boy called David and a phone.

The second thing that I liked for example was that the story had some suspense. I really like stories that have suspense because they are not boring like stories that are predictable. For example, when the old man phoned to David, it was almost unpredictable to guess that the man was actually dead.

I would recommend this story to somebody that’s around 11 and that likes scary stories. I wouldn’t recommend this story to somebody that’s younger than 11 because that story might be a bit confusing especially in the beginning when the story kind of switches around. I wouldn’t recommend his story to somebody that doesn’t like scary stories because that person might have nightmares about it.

More Scary Stories By Alvin Schwartz

                            The Cementery
There once was a young lady that was coming back from work. She was really tired so she decided to take a short cut through the cementery. She walked really quickly because she did not feel reall comfteble in the middle of the cementry. Suddenly, she saw a woman walking not so far from her. She decided to catch up with her and ask her if she could walk with her.
"Can I walk with you? I feel really scared walking by my self in the middle of the cementry."
"I know what you feel. I felt the same way when I was a...
That story was really short but it has a crazy ending. I wish the writer wrote that story a bit longer.

More Scary Stories By Alvin Schwartz

                                                      The Brown Suit
This short story is about a man that died. His wife came to the funeral parlor to see her husband's corpse. When she saw her husband in the coffin, she started crying. The funeral parlor felt really sad for her and asked if he could do something for her. The woman said that she would like her husband to wear a brown suit instead of wearing the blue one that he was now wearing.
"My husband only wore brown suits" she said. The man said no problem and that he was going to change it.
"But you really don't have to" said the woman. But the man really insited. The woman went to work. When she came back, she saw that the man was wearing the blue suit that her husband was wearing before and her husband was wearing the brown suit that was wearing the man....

That story had a twist ending. It is really crazy if you think about it. Liked it really much because it has a crazy topic.
